Accuracy of co-registration of planning images with Cone Beam CT images

چکیده
Leksell Gamma Knife® IconTM with integrated Cone Beam CT (CBCT) system provides increased workflow flexibility with e.g. planning on frameless images and subsequent frameless dose delivery. The stereotactic reference is given by the CBCT images taken prior to treatment. Co-registration of the planning image volume with the CBCT volume gives the transformation mapping of the planned isocenter positions to stereotactic coordinates.

A feasibility study on the use of MV-CBCT images for urgent palliative treatment planning
Introduction: The application of 3D volumetric imaging modalities in treatment planning of radiation therapy can provide more precisely define tumor localization, and computed tomography (CT) is the most common accepted method for treatment planning. Given the lack of a CT scanner stationed in all radiotherapy departments and equipping most of the medical linear accelerators wi...
متن کاملHow does CT image noise affect 3D deformable image registration for image-guided radiotherapy planning?
PURPOSE To measure the sensitivity of deformable image registration to image noise. Deformable image registration can be used to map organ contours and other treatment planning data from one CT to another. These CT studies can be acquired with either conventional fan-beam CT systems or more novel cone-beam CT techniques. However, cone-beam CT images can have higher noise levels than fan-beam CT...
متن کاملAssessment of image co-registration accuracy for frameless gamma knife surgery
Image co-registration is used in frameless gamma knife radiosurgery (GKSRS) to assign a stereotactic coordinate system and verify patient setup before irradiation. The accuracy of co-registration with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of a Gamma Knife IconTM (GK Icon) was assessed, and the effects of the region of co-registration (ROC) were studied. CBCT-to-CBCT co-registration is use...
متن کاملMultiscale registration of planning CT and daily cone beam CT images for adaptive radiation therapy.
Adaptive radiation therapy (ART) is the incorporation of daily images in the radiotherapy treatment process so that the treatment plan can be evaluated and modified to maximize the amount of radiation dose to the tumor while minimizing the amount of radiation delivered to healthy tissue. Registration of planning images with daily images is thus an important component of ART. In this article, th...

Introduction: Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in radiation treatment (RT) planning as well as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging owing to its superior soft-tissue contrast. Due to the fact that there is no direct transformation from voxel intensity in MR images into electron density, itchr('39')s crucial to generate a pseudo-CT (Computed Tomography) image ...
